# Back to base

The mission ends when any of the following occurs:

1. The Meta Crystal has been successfully extracted and unveiled
2. Crystals vanished

In the case of Crystals vanishing before a pilot managed to extract the Meta Crystal one of many scenario can occur and the choice will be up to a vote in the [Council](/space-hunters/council/governance.md).

At the end of the mission, players can keep the crystals they extracted without claiming the prize they encapsulate during the active period. Once a Crystal becomes inactive, it can't be unveiled nor can the prize it encapsulates be claimed.

All inactive crystals will be burnable to get a Pass for the next mission.
